Swing Dance w/the Swing Shift Orchestra and 20th Anniversary Celebration with Special Guest Judy Pritchett!
Got2Lindy has been fostering fun, footwork and friendships since 2004! Celebrate with us as we celebrate you and our students who have been with us one year or many, many more!! We couldn’t have done this without you!! We’ve even had a few marriages and babies grow out of our classes!!
We invited our big band fav the Swing Shift Orchestra, a great big band and long-time friend of Got2Lindy, and our friend, Judy Pritchett, Frankie Manning’s long-time partner, because we couldn’t have done this without him, either!
Frankie Manning was a leading dancer at Harlem’s legendary Savoy Ballroom where, in the mid-1930s, he revolutionized the course of the lindy hop with his innovations, including the lindy air step and synchronized ensemble lindy routine.
As a featured dancer and chief choreographer for the spectacular Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers, he performed in numerous films (including Hellzapoppin’), and entertained on stages around the world with jazz greats Ethel Waters, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Cab Calloway.
Frankie Manning was one of our teachers and we brought him to the Hudson Valley to teach a weekend workshop in 2006. He is known as “The Ambassador of Lindy Hop” and Linda edited his book of the same name (Temple University Press, 2007).

This month we will have a SPECIAL EVENT BEFORE THE DANCE DEVOTED TO FRANKIE MANNING with an audio-visual presentation and Q & A with his long-time partner Judy Pritchett, and a lesson with a few of Frankie’s favorite moves taught by Linda & Chester to incorporate into your own dance repitoire!
TAKE THE NIGHT! Add this month’s Special Event (6-7:30pm) to your registration for the dance and get the clinic at a discounted rate! Valid for those who register for both the technique clinic and the dance on the registration form.
